North Garland 72-Inch Pipeline Forensic Analysis

Halff led a team of seven specialty subconsultants for the purpose of assisting NTMWD in determining the most likely cause or causes of failure of a 72-inch prestressed concrete cylinder pipe.

The team’s services included pipe sampling and metallurgical and concrete analysis, internal pipeline inspection, geotechnical and corrosion potential analysis, SCADA review and hydraulic transient analysis, and pipe structural modeling. The forensic investigation culminated in a summary report of the team’s findings to NTMWD staff and the NTMWD Board of Directors.
