Inside Halff 09-06-2018
Landscape Architect Tyler Richburg of Halff’s Austin office was recently appointed to serve on two American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) committees: the Associate Advisory Committee and the Leadership Development Committee. Tyler will serve two-year terms on both committees.
Applicants for the ASLA Associate Member Advisory Committee were nominated by the Texas chapter president and appointed by the ASLA president-elect. Committee members advise ASLA leaders on policies and programs that impact associate members (or emerging professionals). The committee will provide feedback to inform the ASLA Board of Directors based on based on the experiences of the committee members and their fellow emerging professionals in the field.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to use my experiences and draw on the experiences of my colleagues to help shape what ASLA looks like for emerging professionals,” said Tyler. “I’m excited to advocate on behalf of my peers within the company, and the industry, to help grow the organization from an emerging professionals perspective.”
Tyler will focus on the recruitment and retention of associate members, as well as the development of content for ASLA publications and journals. The committee ultimately serves as a liaison between associate members and the ASLA Board of Directors.
The ASLA Leadership Development Committee will develop, implement and monitor a plan to support potential and emerging leaders with attention to diversity of practice type. The committee will also develop, implement and monitor a plan to encourage their participation in and guide their development through the leadership ladder of ASLA.
“The opportunity to work with the national organization will offer valuable insight into the growing trends within the industry, as well as provide exposure for Halff and the Planning and Landscape Architecture teams throughout the ASLA organization,” said Tyler.
