Inside Halff 09-22-2015
On September 17, Bexar County held a ribbon cutting ceremony for our Bulverde Road Phase V project. In attendance was Bexar County Commissioner Kevin Wolff, Bexar County Engineer Services Manager David R. Wegmann, Halff Project Manager Edward Herolt, and Contractor Capital Excavation.
The project was an $8 million Transportation and Flood Control project to improve mobility and safety. An innovative design solution was used to remove the roadway facility from the 100-year floodplain by implementing a “by-pass” channel concept, allowing low flow storm events for Elm Waterhole Creek to continue following the existing flow path, and intercepting larger storm events to be routed under a new bridge structure. Additional benefits included Natural Channel Design (NCD) features.
