Jacksonville, Florida — Halff Associates, Inc. (Halff), one of the nation’s leading engineering/architecture consulting firms, is pleased to announce Guillermo Simón, PE, CFM, has joined its Jacksonville, Florida, office with more than 20 years of experience in coastal engineering and surface hydrology and hydraulics. He is an accomplished program and project manager, having worked with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Florida water management districts, counties, utility companies and other private entities. In his new role at Halff, Guillermo will serve as the director of Water Resources.
Prior to joining Halff, Guillermo managed a portfolio of projects ranging from single lots to multi-county and basin-wide projects. His experience includes hydraulic modeling of natural and urban coastal and riverine systems; coastal engineering analyses and design of coastal infrastructure; and other applications such as dam break mapping, reservoir operation simulation and engineering economics analyses.
Guillermo earned his BS in Civil Engineering from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and his MS in Coastal and Oceanographic Engineering from the University of Florida. He is a member of the Association of State Floodplain Managers, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Florida Engineering Society. Guillermo is a licensed Professional Engineer and Certified Floodplain Manager in Florida.
